DEER HUNTING AT OAKHAVEN....
Like wild gobblers in the spring, this is true fair chase hunting and no guarantees can be made regarding success. Deer are most active in early morning and late evening and hunting is done primarily from elevated blinds and stands. Hunters are transported to their hunting areas and blinds by Oakhaven guides, who also assist in tracking and recovering downed game. Both doe and buck hunting are allowed in most management units. Only bucks meeting minimum antler restrictions may be harvested and penalty fees are in place to limit the harvesting of young bucks. NC hunting licenses are required to hunt at Oakhaven and all NC game laws and policies apply. Our exclusive package includes lodging and meals for 3 days of hunting. Weather during November and December is very unpredictable and hunters need to outfit for temperatures ranging from 17F to 75F.
Complete processing of meat is available. For those who either can't or choose not to transport game, a charitable organization is available locally that will accept, process and distribute venison to feed the less fortunate.
We limit hunting on our estate to only three clients per day making deer hunting at Oakhaven a great experience with lots of action and animals. It is not uncommon to see over 30 animals per day with a healthy buck to doe ratio providing a chance to see lots of typical fall behaviors including chasing, fighting, and other rutting activities.
